Terms and conditions

1My driving experience is less than one year, can I rent a car?

Of course, but we recomand you bringing a “Beginner” mark magnet by yourself to show other drivers.

2Can I rent a car with temporary driving permit?

No, temporary driving permits cannot be used in Japan.
Temporary driving permits cannot drive the rental car even if it was rented by another person with a valid driver’ s license.

3Can I rent the car if I forget to bring my driver’s license?

According to Japanese laws and regulations, we can not rent to person without driver’ s license.

4Requirements for driving in Japan

1Japanese Domestic Driver’s License

Customers from Japan or those who also have a Japanese Domestic Driver License. Please provide the Japanese Domestic Driver License only.

Driver’s licenses which are issued in Switzerland, Germany, France, Taiwan, Belgium, Slovenia, Monaco, or Estonia, please bring your passport, local driving license with a Japanese translation of the license.

1949 Geneva Convention International Driving Permit

Attention :

* International driver license are valid for one year for each entry. Re-entry date does not restart if you hold a Japanese residence visa.

* Japan does not recognize international driver license issued under 1926 France Convention, 1943 Washington Convention, and 1968 Vienna Convention.

5Information on Parking

Parking anywhere might result in traffic accident or traffic congestion. Even if the driver wants to park for a short time, they still must use a designated parking lot. If not, one may be fined starting from 15,000 yen.

Below are the symbols for No Parking :

In any case, if you received a ticket :

  1. Please go and report the ticket to the nearest Police Station. The police will give you a bill and you need to pay by yourself.
  2. When returning the car, please show the bill and your rental car receipt. If the car is returned without reporting at the Police Station, our company will charge you 20,000 yen as a fine.

6Gas Stations

There are three types of gasoline in Japan : Regular, Premium and Diesel.
Please fill up the tank with the correct type of gasoline.

More than half-tank and not full-tank will be charged 5,000 yen

Less than half-tank and not full-tank will be charged 10,000 yen

Attention :

  1. According to our Full-tank Policy, if the tank is not fully filled before the return, the customer will be charged. More than half tank will be charge 5,000 yen, less than half tank will be charged 10,000 yen.
  2. Please keep the latest fuel receipt when returning the vehicle.
  3. If the vehicle is damaged due to filling the wrong type of fuel, the repair costs will be borne by the customer.

Reservation

1What information should I provide when I’m reserving for the car?

Please provide your flight No., pick-up date, return date, expected car model, contact information and extra note, etc.

2How to modify my booking or even cancel one?

You can use our websites Booking Enquiry (https://carrental.jpn.com/en/mypage/) to check your booking. You can also use Line, Whatsapp, Wechat or phone number to reach us 1 day before your pick-up date.

3Can we add an additional driver?

Yes, you will just need to provide the requirement for driving in Japan when you are picking up the car.

4Car I specify a certain car model?

We will arrange your expected car model as possible as we can. Depanding on the storage we may arrange same-class vehicle for you.

Payment methods

1When do I pay for the rental?

The payment is done when you are picking up the car. If the rental is extended,please pay additional rental fee when you return the car.

2How do you calculate the rental fees?

Car rental fees are calculated by the type of class of the car and the length of the rental period.

3Is it possible to get a refund if I return the car earlier then original return date?

Please reconfirm the return date before you pick up the car. No refund after car departed.

2What is NOC Insurance?

NOC can be used for losses in the event of collision damage. (About NOC)

2Tips for driving safely in snow and ice

1Slow down, especially on slippery roads.

2Do NOT overtake cars across the opposing lane. Use low gears and try and keep in a straight line.

3When you need stop the car , shift into a low gear then apply a small amount of brake. Do NOT step hard on the brakes.

4Slow down when you are turning.

5Always keep a safe distance of at least 5 cars.

  3. Take it slow
A little reminder
  1. Before driving: use the snow brush to clean up the car. Brush off the snow on the windshield, mirror, and lights before driving.
  2. Wear sunglasses when you’ re driving for a long time in the snow.
  3. When you are leaving the car, there is no need to use the handbrake. Remember to lift up BOTH the front and the rear wipers to prevent them from freezing on the windsheild.

Car Rental Agreement

1Please fill up the gas fully before returning the car.

If the car is not returned with a full tank of gas

If car is returned without a full tank of gas, you will be charged by our company policy : JPY 5,000 if the car is returned with less than full but more than half; JPY 10,000 Please keep the latest receipt from the final fill-up and show it to us when you are return the car.

More than half-tank and not full-tank will be charged JPY 5,000

Less than half-tank andwill be charged JPY 10,000

2If the car cannot be returned on time

You must notify us IN FIRST HAND, we will charge a fee of late return and an operating loss fee due to he car not being available for the next customer. If an accident happens outside the rental period and we are not noticed beforehand, there will no be any kind of insurance compensation available.

3When an accident happens

If The INSURANCE contract will be terminated once an accident occurs. You cannot move the vehicle on your own no matter whether it is you at fault or not. If there is no police record for the accident, then there will not be any kind of insurance compensation available.

4If you have received a traffic ticket

When returning the car, please show us both the ticket and receipt of the ticket payment. If the penalty was not settled, our company will charge you JPY 20,000 as a compensation.
(The payment for the the ticket can not be payed on Saturday, Sunday and national holidays)

FAQs

1Can i bring my pet in the rental car?

Yes, you can. But please use a cage for your pet. If in-car cleaning is needed, we may demand Non-Operation Charges (N.O.C.) as cleaning charge from you ¥20,000.

2Is it possible to rent outside business hours?

For rentals outside business hours, please contact us in advance.

3How to reserve child seat?

Please take a reservation for optional equipment at the same time as reserving rent-a-car. You can make a reservation for a baby seat, child seat, and junior seat.

4Can I rent the ETC card alone?

Unfortunatly we do not do the ETC card rental alone, if you need the ETC card you will also have to purchase the HEP.

5Can i purchase Hokkaido Express Pass(HEP) plan?

You can join the HEP when you are picking up the car.
